Once Upon a Blog

Hello and welcome to the Wishbone Society blog!
The Wishbone Society is a Baltimore-based book club composed of artist friends who meet once a month to talk about classic books and make art based on them. Most of our members are either alumni of the Maryland Institute College of Art or are current MICA students. Those of us who had recently graduated were afraid that our nubile young minds might fall to atrophy amidst the drudgery of our post-school, "real world" lives. We were also afraid that between finding new jobs/working new jobs and starting our careers we wouldn't find the time to hang out. The book clubs solves both of these problems, guaranteeing that we all see each other and have a decently intelligent conversation at least once a month.
The art part seemed like the natural next step. We've got all of these artists together, why don't we make some art? The blog was the next logical progression. We've got all of these artists together, making art, why don't we tell people about it?

So here we are! The book club has been up and running for three months now, which means three books' worth of artist's responses. To get the blog up to date we will be posting art from our first book, Bram Stoker's Dracula, between the dates of October 4-8; art from Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Grey from October 9-15; art from Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis from October 16-22; and art from our latest book, Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo, from October 23 up until Halloween! After that each month will be dedicated to just one book, and artist responses will flow in all month long as our club members complete them.

I hope you enjoy your time on the blog and come back often! If you have any questions, comments, or literary suggestions please feel free to email us at wishbonesociety@gmail.com .
